Microcurrent Neurofeedback
Training that helps your nervous system find its own way back to a steadier pattern — without medication, without effort, and without asking you to concentrate on anything.
What brainwaves actually do
Your brain is always changing speed. Healthy brains are flexible — they speed up when you need focus and slow down when you need rest. The goal here is flexibility, not forcing the brain into one state.
• Slow waves (delta and theta) help with rest, emotional processing and learning. Too much while awake feels foggy, overwhelmed or emotionally flooded.
• Mid-speed waves (alpha and SMR) support calm focus, stability and sleep. Too little feels like tension or hypervigilance; too much feels like spacing out.
• Fast waves (beta) help with thinking, planning and engagement. Too much shows up as anxiety, rumination and burnout.
Different regions have different jobs — the front for thinking, planning and emotional control; the middle strip for physical calm and sleep stability; the sides for emotional memory and sensory processing; the back for visual processing and rest rhythms. When these areas don't coordinate well, symptoms appear.
What neurofeedback actually is
Neurofeedback — sometimes called EEG biofeedback — is a non-invasive form of neurological training. Sensors placed on the scalp detect and amplify the electrical activity your brain is already producing. Specialized equipment and software analyze that activity and provide feedback in real time, designed to gently encourage brain-wave activity toward more functional ranges without requiring you to consciously control the process.
Over repeated sessions, this training may support greater stability, adaptability and regulation in areas such as attention, mood, sleep, stress response and cognition. Individual responses vary, and no specific outcome can be guaranteed.
Microcurrent neurofeedback, the form used here, returns that feedback as an extremely gentle electrical pulse — millionths of an amp, far below the threshold at which most people feel anything.
Why microcurrent is different
Most neurofeedback is amplitude-based: it rewards your brain when it produces a target pattern, essentially training it toward a predetermined goal. That works well for many people. It works less well for people whose nervous systems are inflamed, depleted, or so sensitive that any push produces a crash.
Microcurrent neurofeedback takes a different approach. Rather than pushing the brain toward a target, it introduces a sub-sensory timing signal that gives the nervous system a steadier reference against which it can reorganize itself.
You will not feel the signal. Most people simply sit comfortably and rest.
What a session is like
Your skin is prepared and sensors are placed on your scalp and related locations using conductive paste. You sit comfortably. The equipment reads your brain's activity and returns feedback. You are generally not consciously aware of the moment-to-moment changes taking place, and there is nothing you need to do.
Afterwards, some people feel noticeably calm. Others feel nothing in particular and notice a change a day or two later. Both are normal.
Your pathway
Neurofeedback is a learning process, and the nervous system keeps adapting over a series of sessions. The initial 10-session series provides the foundation.
Sessions 1–5 · Foundation and initial regulation
Your nervous system begins learning a new pattern. Early changes may include calming, improved sleep or energy, greater mental clarity, reduced reactivity, or improved focus. Some changes are subtle at first, and early improvement doesn't necessarily mean the new patterns are fully established.
Sessions 6–10 · Building and reinforcing
The focus shifts from introducing regulation to reinforcing it. Clients often notice more consistency between sessions, greater resilience under stress, improved emotional flexibility, and less tendency to snap straight back to old patterns.
Sessions 11–15 · Integration and resilience
New patterns get practiced under the demands of everyday life — deeper integration, better recovery after stress.
Sessions 16–20 · Stabilization
The goal becomes making healthier regulation familiar and self-sustaining, and determining whether sessions can begin to be spaced farther apart.
Ten sessions is a strong therapeutic foundation — not necessarily the completion of the process. At or near session ten we review progress together and discuss what, if anything, comes next. There is no automatic requirement to buy another series.
What people come in for
Neurofeedback has been studied for a wide range of neurological, psychological, behavioral and performance-related concerns. The strength of published evidence varies by condition, and some applications are considered emerging. People most often come to this practice around:
• Nervous system dysregulation — tired but wired, crashing after stress
• Lyme disease and mold recovery
• Attention, focus and executive function, in children and adults
• Anxiety, worry and a mind that won't settle
• Sleep — falling asleep, staying asleep, waking unrested
• Trauma and stress-response patterns
• Concussion, TBI and post-concussive symptoms
• Long COVID and post-viral recovery
• Chronic pain and the exhaustion that comes with it
• Cognitive clarity and performance under pressure
Possible temporary effects
Neurofeedback is well tolerated, but temporary effects can occur and we'd rather you hear about them from us. They may include fatigue or sleepiness, difficulty sleeping or vivid dreams, headache or dizziness, irritability or emotional changes, temporary shifts in energy or concentration, feeling overstimulated, temporary changes in blood pressure or heart rate, and mild skin irritation where sensors were placed.
Please tell us about anything significant or unexpected — that information is genuinely useful for adjusting your sessions.
Research and regulation
The equipment used here falls under the FDA's Class II biofeedback device classification. Biofeedback devices indicated for relaxation training and muscle re-education are exempt from FDA premarket notification.
